In addition: Better distinction of commands vs. dictation: new options to disable (+ deprecated commands) Smart Format Rules box helps prevent format-related errors Perception of correction process: more choices in list Reminders to use analysis and optimization
  30. System Requirements CPU: We recommend 2.2 GHz Intel® dual core or equivalent AMD processor. (Minimum 1 GHz Intel® Pentium® or equivalent AMD processor or 1.66 GHz Intel® Atom® processor). For EMR support, please use Dragon Medical Edition.
  31. Application Support Latest public releases of currently supported applications DNS automatically opens Dictation Box when user starts speaking and there’s no FTC (e.g. Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, Firefox, Chrome) Option can be turned off on Miscellaneous. tab (all or nothing) Raises awareness of FTC. Rich Internet Applications (RIA) – through plug-ins, adds voice usability to Gmail and Hotmail within specific browsers (IE9, Firefox 12+, Chrome 16+) Note: As before, differences among browsers include: No saying links or browser commands in Chrome. No Full Text Control in Chrome and Firefox (where the plugin doesn’t apply, i.e. Gmail and Hotmail)
  32. Browser Extension for Rich Internet Applications Gmail & Hotmail In these RIAs, the plugin adds to the browser’s existing functionality: Commands for key actions: Click Inbox, Go to Subject… See small Nuance graphic next to covered items. To see the command list, say “show site commands” (see top of IE/FF Sidebar) Nuance can update these lists post 12.0 through its server Note: feature doesn’t include command for sending Full Text Control: dictate as you normally do (even in Chrome and Firefox)
  33. Browser Extension for Gmail & Hotmail (cont.) “Say What You See” and the graphic: A small graphic marks items that can be activated with the principle “click <name>” e.g. “click inbox” and “click drafts”. Navigate a new mail’s fields in any order (“go to body,” “go to subject”…) as opposed to tabbing from one field to the next.
  34. Browser Extension for Gmail & Hotmail – important notes One may need to close and re-open the browser once after installing Dragon 12. Browser may present a message (full screen or not) asking for authorization. Internet Explorer 9 can be installed on Windows Vista and Windows 7, but not on XP.  If you install Internet Explorer 9 after installing Dragon 12, you must install Dragon files needed to use this feature in Internet Explorer 9 (double-click setup.exe, choose Repair).
  35. Enterprise Features (Pro and Legal Editions) Auto-Transcribe Folder Agent: RTF and DOC output formats Notification when a transcription job completes Export added “words” with their Properties (XML format) See Vocabulary Menu Note: In 12.0 this does NOT covered built-in words whose properties were changed. Admins can create a "recognition log" file: Provides rich, objective info about usage, to make implementations more successful and measurable: coach end-users precisely + obtain metrics for ROI. Txt file similar to Recognition History -- but cumulative and also shows profile/source/voc No GUI. See Admin Guide. Remote Desktop Connection Use MS’s RDC 7 (free, formerly Terminal Services Client) to connect local Windows computer to DNS12 installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 Ultimate
  36. Smart Device as Wireless Microphone Now in Home and up Dragon Remote Microphone app now for Android as well as iOS Easier configuration between the app and the Dragon profile open on the PC DNS displays a (QR) barcode: point the camera to it and the necessary info is transferred automatically. App settings “stick”
  37. Enhanced Bluetooth Microphone Support Premium editions and above Takes advantage of 16 kHz for higher accuracy than 8 kHz Skipping General Training is allowed. Plantronics “Calisto II” BT-300 (small USB dongle) First plug the dongle into your PC’s USB port, then create a profile or add a source: list offered will include Enhanced Bluetooth* If more than one “sound device” is detected, “Plantronics BT300” will be listed. Calisto II’s User Guide posted on website alongside DNS User Guide.
  38. Usability: Personal Control Through added granularity, v12 adds flexibility, performance, and ”safety” (prevent surprises) New options that can be disabled: Twitter and Facebook post commands introduced in 11.5 (under “More Commands” button) The XYZ disambiguation introduced in 11 (numbered markers) Tracking of Start Menu and/or Desktop (DNS may open an item anytime, regardless of what’s visible, if you say open/start/launch followed by its name) UI tracking in one or more specified apps "Require 'Click‘: You can separate menus from buttons and other controls. Is now default for all.
  39. Usability: New on Commands tab
  40. Usability: Deprecated Commands Tweet that and Tweet <word(s)> Replaced “I’m feeling lucky” wordings (“find site on…”) with more descriptive “open top [web] site for…” E.g. “open top site for nuance communications,” “open top site for Gmail” *Deprecated “send it to…,” “mail this to…”, “forward that to…” and all other wordings except “email the selection to…”
  41. Usability: “Require ‘Click’” by Default By default, click is always required, not just for menus. Frequent examples: “click OK,” “click search” and “click transfer.” For Dictation Box: ini setting to inhibit close-confirmation message
  42. Usability: Personal Control UI tracking in one or more specified apps (dropdown) Automatic Dictation Box
  43. Usability: Hands-Free New command to right-click the Tray Icon by voice (to access the DragonBar menus when “minimized”) Refined “list windows” feature to see what windows are open and switch to one (introduced in 11): List includes DNS windows (Vocabulary Editor, etc.). You can say “list windows for Dragon.” Window is taller (useful for when many windows are open). Note: Tutorial doesn’t turn off microphone, but Microphone Check and Interactive Tutorial do.
  44. Usability: Help System and Documentation New TTS voice for each language (latest from Nuance’s Auto division) Region selection in profile creation (Canada “region” still uses US vocabulary, e.g. color not colour) – but Smart Format Rules help users set alternate written forms) Many new tips. Note: must click Next in Tip of Day window. Added to Help menu: link to printable doc (on the Web) & Interactive Tutorial Enriched Performance Assistant (describes ways to gain speed) and added a link to it in Accuracy Center. Renamed "Add Words From Documents" to further our efforts to teach that designating text to analyze is key (vs. just adding words & phrases). UI: taller list, removed preview checkbox Continued to make error messages more usable
  45. Usability: Readability Increased DragonPad’s default font size Improved Accuracy Center readability by using darker colors Improved Sidebar’s readability: User can change font size (small, med, large) of Commands Pane by voice and hand More readability especially for links to Help. (Removed “page” icons.) Tip of Day window*: More readable, has Back button, is HTML. Note: user must use Next button to advance.
  46. Usability: Troubleshooting Wizard to restore a backup after a user profile corruption occurs. Opens automatically Utility for end-users to quickly and easily provide rich data for troubleshooting Motivation: Providing even just dragon.log can be challenging for some users, and sometimes troubleshooting requires other files. Automatically packages many relevant files. The end-user then provides the package to Support (usually as attachment to ticket). Found in the Windows Start menu, under Dragon NaturallySpeaking Tools
  47. Usability: Guidance Interactive Tutorial: help new users transition from “so easy on TV” to reality of dictating, punctuating, etc. (Details in next slide.) Touches on essential concepts and skills. Contains short, progressive simulations. Automatically presented at end of profile creation unless inhibited by .ini file setting. Also available from Help menu. Smart Format Rules (adaptive text normalization, E F G only): upon detecting a correction corresponding to an Alternate written form or Auto-Formatting option. DNS reaches out about optimization
  48. Interactive TutorialKey Concepts and Skills Good habits: speaking flow, “microphone off” Rejects if prompt is not read in one flow Punctuation incl. “open paren”, “dot dot dot”, “open quote” (note: full stop and bracket are accepted) Dictation Commands incl. “cap”, “new line”, “new paragraph”, “caps on”, “all caps”, “numeral…” Editing and correcting text: Correction Menu and Spelling Window “underline xyz” and other direct editing commands “insert before xyz,” “go back” and other placement of insertion point Pressing a key: “press tab” Smart Format Rules offered after a format change Final screen suggests what to do next, draws attention to resources, “Search Dragon Help for…”
  49. Interactive TutorialFirst Simulated Dictation
  50. Smart Format Rules In DNS12, users don’t need to “dig” in the UI. Before, frustration trying to teach DNS their preferred formats, such as abbreviations (alternate written forms), units… Users don’t know how or can’t bother. Auto-Formatting dlg & Word Properties dlg can feel overwhelming (+ WP dlg is “buried” in Voc Editor.) Extends value of correcting, avoids repeated format errors
  51. Smart Format Rules (cont.) After a format-related correction, DNS presents the Smart Format Rules box – then the user can: Just keep dictating (or say “cancel”), or Choose a rule: say “choose n”. (Takes effect immediately; does not retroactively change previous instances in the dictation.) Users can still change settings proactively in Auto-Formatting dlg and Word Properties dlg. What’s enabled there determines whether the SFR box will be triggered and what rules it will offer. SFR helps user get to a point where they have all the settings they typically want (users can always make exceptions in their dictations). If settings are already “curated”, the SFR box will rarely/never appear. Note Also appears if correction was done by overtyping in the document. Can be turned off from Correction tab of Options dlg.
  52. Smart Format Rules(Help appears the 1st time only)
  53. Smart Format Rules(Help appears the 1st time only)
  54. DNS reaches out about optimization Proactive, so users don’t have to remember. Analysis of documents and/or local sent emails if not done recently (so DNS is “up to date” on user’s work). Reminder can be turned off for email separately. “Save profile? Yes No” message may include checkbox for “maintenance” (quick, since just LMO).
  55. Miscellaneous DragonBar flashing effect for certain messages At end of uninstallation A message encourages customer to provide feedback (online form), incl. why they uninstalled (part of our efforts to know users and their needs) A message asks whether to remove Adobe Flash installed by DNS. Click Yes. At bottom of Help articles: mention of Edition. At bottom of splashscreen: mention of how to exit it. Nuance PDF Reader instead of Adobe Acrobat for on-disk documentation.
  56. Language-Specific Enhancements All editions FRENCH Only: Promote ways to prevent homophone errors related to gender/number: Options for personal pronouns “I” “you” and “we” Pronunciations “il/elle singulier” and “ils/elles pluriel”. Mentioned at end of profile creation Options tab “Locuteurs” now renamed “Pronoms” GERMAN Only: Option to control pronoun capitalization.
