  1. Hair loss and Treatments In Men

  2. Hairs • People who have hairs absolutely love it, those who do not crib for him and those who are in the process of losing it, are doing everything possible to save him. Although it is easy to blame your parents for your bald scalp, but this time the reason could be different genetics.

  3. Reasons for Hair Loss in Men Listed as

  4. Hypothyroidism • The thyroid gland which helps in regulating the metabolism of the body secrets hormones to control it. Due to underproduction of some hormones a disease might be caused known as “Alopecia Areata”. This results in patchy hair loss in men.

  5. Ringworm Infection • This is an infection caused by a fungus which affects the scalp and the hair. This is the result of poor hygiene in men.

  6. Chemotherapy • If you’ve had chemotherapy for your cancer treatment you are likely to lose your hair. This is because the hair follicles are super heated during the operation and results in complete hair loss. The growth of hair starts after a while though.

  7. Vitamin/Mineral Deficiencies • Deficiencies of certain vitamin/nutrients can also be a cause for hair loss. The most common of them all is the deficiency of iron which plays a very important role in the production of the “Red Blood Cells (RBC)”.  The cells carry oxygen which is another vital element in the body. The follicles are devoid of any energy and they die eventually resulting in the hair loss.

  8. Excessive Smoking • Now you have one more reason to quit smoking. Smoking excessively takes your bane away. The carbon monoxide inhaled during the process of smoking restricts the supply of oxygen to the hair follicles and nicotine narrows the blood vessels which further restricts the growth of new hair.

  9. Androgenetic Alopecia • This is a type of baldness which is still under the scanner since the scientists are still to find a cause and cure for it. In this type of baldness the hair follicles tend to shrink over the time which eventually results in the hair fall. This is mainly genetic as the name suggests.

  10. Stress • If you are under any hormonal, mental or physical stress due to any external or internal factor you might lose your hair. The body is in the state of shock with which production of abnormal hormones starts. These hormones are a total no-no for the body and reacts with the hair follicles and your hair starts falling.

  11. Hair loss treatment for men • If you’ve been affected with this typical baldness, there is no need to despair. With advances in medical science, today it is possible to correct the problem of hair loss in males once and for all. The treatment for this goes by the name of Hair Transplantation, and has been successfully employed in restoring hair growth among people who have forgotten what it feels like to have a full head of hair.

  12. Essentially, hair transplantation involves transfer of healthy follicles from the scalp of one person to another, or even from parts of one’s body to the scalp. The area from where live follicles are taken is known as the donor, which are then surgically planted on the receiving area. Once a growth cycle of hair has been completed, natural growth results on the scalp, and baldness is treated forever.

  13. Types of transplantation • Broadly, the hair transplantation method is of two types. Technically, these are known as Follicle Unit Transplant (FUT) and Follicle Unit Extraction (FUE), respectively.

  14. Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) • Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is a procedure where hair is transplanted from the permanent zone, the area in the back and sides of the scalp where hair is more resistant to balding, to the bald or balding areas of the scalp. This is accomplished using naturally-occurring groups of 1, 2, 3, or 4 hairs, called follicular units

  15. After the patient’s scalp is anesthetized, the doctor removes a strip of tissue from the donor area, an area within the permanent zone, and, once extracted, the donor strip is cut into many individual follicular units using microscopic dissection techniques. As these follicular unit grafts are being prepared, the doctor makes tiny holes in the scalp, called recipient sites, where the grafts are placed.

  16. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) • Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a method of extracting, or “harvesting,” donor hair in a follicular unit hair transplant procedure. In FUE, an instrument is used to make a small, circular incision in the skin around a follicular unit, separating it from the surrounding tissue. The unit is then extracted (pulled) directly from the scalp, leaving a small open hole.

  17. This method of donor harvesting, removing follicular units one-by-one directly from the scalp, is what differentiates the FUE procedure from a traditional Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT), where the donor hair is removed from the scalp in one thin, long strip and then subsequently dissected into individual follicular units using a stereo-microscope.
