  1. Reproductive System Male

  2. Humor helps! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ry-LwxR746s

  3. TESTES Male gonads that produce sperm cells and produce and secrete testosterone.

  4. SEMINIFEROUS TUBULES Tightly coiled tubes within the testes that produce sperm and testosterone.

  5. SPERM Mature male sex or reproductive cell.

  6. EPIDIDYMIS Portion of the male reproductive duct system in which sperm mature or fully develop. Sperm is preparing to be ejaculated

  7. SCROTUM • Scrotum: • External sac enclosing the testes and epididymis. • Surrounds the testes to regulate the temperature of the sperm

  8. VAS DEFERENS • Vas Deferens: • Tubes that connect the Epididymis to the Urethra. • How sperm travel to the outside of the male’s body • Vasectomy

  9. Vasectomy • Male sterilization does not decrease the amount of semen produced or ejaculated

  10. SEMINAL VESICLES Provides and secretes 60% of the fluid (semen) that mixes with the sperm to make it mobile and to provide nourishment

  11. EJACULATORY DUCT • THE EJACULATORY DUCT. The ejaculatory duct is a short passageway that is formed by the union of a vas deferens and the duct of a seminal vesicle. Both ejaculatory ducts empty sperm and fluid (from the seminal vesicle) into the single urethra.

  12. PROSTATE Muscular gland in males that surrounds the first inch of the urethra and secretes a fluid that becomes part of semen. • Is an essential organ enabling a male to have an erection

  13. COWPER’S GLAND • Produces a fluid that is secreted on the onset of sexual arousal – • The secretion coats the lining of the urethra and cleanses it of any traces of acidic urine that might be present. • It also serves as a lubricant during sexual intercourse.

  14. PENIS • Male organ of reproduction and urination. • During sexual arousal, however, blood flow to the tissue increases. • The penis, engorged with blood, becomes longer, wider, and rigid. • This event, called an erection, allows the penis to enter the female vagina and deliver semen to the female's reproductive tract.

  15. EJACULATION • Ejaculation is the sudden ejection of semen/sperm from the penis. • SEMEN / SEMINAL FLUID - A sticky fluid that transports the sperm - A typical ejaculation releases between 400 to 600 million sperm

  16. GLANS of Penis (7) • Glans of penis: the sensitive head of the penis

  17. Circumcision • A fold of skin called the prepuce or foreskin covers the glans. It is common practice in certain cultures and religions to remove the foreskin surgically soon after birth, a procedure called a circumcision.
