  2. Did you know that Ottawa, Canada’s capital, receives about 10 million tourist visits per year? A spike in Ottawa’s tourism always occurs right around Canada Day as Ottawa claims Canada’s biggest and most exciting Canada Day celebrations throughout the city. Celebrations in Ottawa are officially held at three historic Canadian sites; Parliament Hill, Major’s Hill Park and the Canadian Museum of History. 2019 Events vary by location and date (most festivities are held over a two day period) but common public events include parades, pancake breakfasts, live entertainment, and a 15 minute firework show in the evening.

  3. All events held at these venues are free (including admission and entertainment) but transit, food and souvenirs will still cost you. In fact, many street food and souvenir vendors only accept Canadian cash. Tourism Ottawa also recommends that visitors carry cash if they are hoping to visit any of the local farmers markets.
