An Overview of the Faculty of Computer Science & Information Technology • Started as Computer Center within University of Malaya in 1965 • Became Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology in 1994 • Currently has approx. 959 students (as at June 2010) 589 postgraduate ~ 370 undergraduate and ~ 65 lecturers + 25 administrative + 14 technical staff

Directions of the Faculty • Increasing emphasis on quality education • Graduate within 4 semesters (Masters) / 8 semesters (PhD) (financial rewards for early completion for PhD students) • Have the necessary knowledge and soft skills • Increasing emphasis on research and publication • Increased facilities • Incentives for students doing research, e.g. financial support, conference participation, publication, etc.
