  2. Take out a sheet of paper • Name on it • (Every time you get a new paper, write your name in the margin)

  3. Introduce a character (the hero):Pedantic and paleontology • Pedantic : Adjective Bookish • After one year of college, Tom lost all of his friends because of his pedantic behavior. • Paleontology – study of fossils

  4. Give more detail about that character:orthography • Noun –correct spelling • (The teacher said that students would never get good grades in composition unless they learned orthography.

  5. Give more details about the character: paradigm • Noun • A model, an example • John was always held up as a paradigm of good manners…

  6. Give him/her a peccadillo • Trifling fault, small sin • …he was but twenty-one, you remember, and we don`t inquire too closely into character in the case of a handsome generous young fellow, who will have property enough to support numerous peccadilloes—who, if he should unfortunately break a man`s legs in his rash driving, will be able to pension him handsomely… (George Eliot)

  7. Introduce a disaster: pandemic • Noun / adjective • Ex. The flu was a pandemic • Or the pandemic flu… • DON’T USE THE FLU

  8. Introduce a victim: parochial • Adj. • Local; narrow; limited • Being from a small town, George had a parochial view of life.

  9. Explain the victim’s problem with the pandemic: paroxysm • Noun • Outburst / fit • Example: the class burst out in a paroxysm of laughter

  10. What does the hero do?:Palliate • Verb • This is an action that soothes, or lessens the problem • Nurses palliate suffering.

  11. Give more detail and solve the problem: panache • Noun • Self-confidence in a showy way • He balanced on the high beam with panache.

  12. End your story: panegyric • Noun • A formal work of writing meant as a public compliment. • Elaborate praise • You give panegyrics, you cannot be one; you can read one, write one, see one, hear one, etc.

  13. Return your story to the person that began it.
