FAQs • What are Teach-To’s? • Expectations and specific guidelines for how we are to act, how we are to respond, and what we are to do • Why do we have Teach-To’s at LMS? • To provide structure and a sense of security • So all students and staff will know expectations • So we can focus on instruction

  3. Addressing the Teacher • Use Mr., Ms., Mrs., Dr. with name. • Wait quietly for acknowledgement. • Use “Excuse me” or “May I?” • Low voice. • Say “Thank you” before leaving conversation.

  4. After-School Detention • Go to locker and get homework, book to read, and/or paper & pencil. • Report directly to Room 20. • Answer when the roll is called. • Follow directions of ASD monitors. • Have transportation ready at 4:15. • Wait in lobby for ride.

  5. Announcements • Voice off. • Stop working. • Hands and feet still. • Wait until announcements (Moment of Silence/Pledge of Allegiance) are over. • Raise hand to ask questions when announcements are over.

  6. Arrival to School • Enter unlocked door beside main office. • Walk to gym. (If before 7:20, wait to be escorted.) • Sit in designated area of bleachers. (If going to breakfast, sit in first section on left.) • Talk quietly. • Use restroom in gym lobby if needed. • Wait for teacher at 7:45 bell to be escorted to class.

  8. Bathroom Usage • Walk directly to bathroom. • Move directly to and from area of usage. • Be sure to flush. • Wash hands with soap and water and dry hands. • Place trash in trash can. • Leave immediately when finished and walk directly back to class.

  9. Cafeteria (Breakfast) • Wait in gym (first section on left) to be dismissed. • Walk up outside ramp. • Enter side door in single-file line. • Fill in all tables, front to back. • Dispose of all trash. • Exit back door. *You must arrive by 7:50 to be served breakfast (unless your bus is late).

  10. Cafeteria (Lunch) • Wait quietly in single-file line. • Go to assigned table. • Ask teacher if you need to return for something. • Request permission for restroom. • Wait to be dismissed. • Dispose of all trash.

  11. Emergency Drills • Line up immediately. • Voice off. • Walk quickly with hands to self. • Stay straight in single-file line. • Follow teacher’s directions the first time.

  12. End of the Day (Bus Riders) • Exit to side of building. • Move toward covered area. • Sit on metal or wooden rail. • Pay attention and watch for bus. • Wait for bus door to open & load bus quickly and quietly.

  13. End of the Day (Car Riders) • Communicate ahead of time—side or front of building. • Move to that area. • Sit on designated wooden rails. (No rails facing West Main will be used.) • Pay attention and look for ride. • Move to car quickly. Watch out for buses & other cars.

  14. Hallways (Class Change) • Walk on right side. • Hands and feet to self. • Hold on to objects. • Walk facing forward. • Low voice. • No more than 3 side-by-side.

  15. Listening • Eyes on speaker. • Voice off. • Hands and feet still. • Sit up straight. • Raise hand to speak or ask questions.

  16. Lockers • Place books gently on floor, if needed. • Stand in front of your locker, without blocking others. • Enter combination. • Pull up on handle gently (may take more than 1 pull). • Get materials. • Close door quietly, with nothing hanging out.

  17. Substitute Teachers • Follow directions the first time. • Use "Please", "Thank you", and "Excuse me.” • Be helpful and honest about classroom routines. • Voice off, whisper. • Complete work.

  18. Trying Your Best • Have a positive attitude. • Participate/volunteer more than once daily. • Answer all questions; complete entire task. • Ask specific, on-topic questions. • Use resources in room to answer questions or complete tasks.

  19. Water Fountain • Line up in single-file against lockers. • Drink water quietly and within 5 seconds if others are waiting. • Fill water bottles only if no one else is waiting. • Wait your turn and have others wait theirs. • Keep hands to yourself.
