  3. Activities – Thursday, October 9 Purpose: • Half-day stand down to focus on individual organizations’ safety and health activities, including annual Safety and Health training and education. Activities: 9:00 - 10:00 Opening Remarks, Dr. Ellen Ochoa Keynote Speaker, Dr. Aaron Chapa, Living Well Nutritional Clinic Teague Auditorium 9:00 -10:00 League City and Webster Fire Departments Pearland Fire Marshal’s Office Childcare Center 9:00 - 12:30 Organizational Activities Flu shots, Bldg. 2 Lobby 10:00 - 12:30 Booths, displays, demonstrations, JSC Pond/Mall Area 4:00 - 5:00 Health Run/Walk, Gilruth Rec. Center • Register on Safety and Health Day or Starport Website • T-shirts - $12 purchase on Starport Website • Safety and Health Day Web Site: http://sthday.jsc.nasa.gov/

Organization Activities Throughout the week, as part of organizational activities employees will be encouraged to: • Take safety/health training • Hazard Communication • Emergency Evacuation • NASA Safety Culture Training • Employees – Orientation to NASA Safety Culture • Supervisors – Safety Culture for Supervisors • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) • Discuss measures taken for a work-related injury • Discuss workplace hazards with supervisor and co-workers

  5. The George W.S. Abbey Safety & Health Award The JSC organization/office with the highest percentage of participation in Safety & Health Day Activities outlined below: • S&H Day Activities (i.e., healthy breakfast, keynote speaker, etc.) • Exhibit Participation • Safety & Health Training • Safety/Health Work Area Inspections • Volunteer • Health Walk/Run Initial organization plans are due October 6 and can be updated until October 16. Presentation to the winning organization at a future Sr. Staff Meeting.

Weather Plan The SMG will provide weather updates beginning October 6 through October 9 to the following via e-mail and cell phone: • Supricia Franklin • Angel Plaza • Lisa Gurgos • Rindy Carmichael • Richard Wooten • If required, the exhibits will be moved under the eaves and lobbies of Buildings 1, 2, 3, 4N, and 4S.
