  2. Light travels in straight lines unless reflected or refracted • The light ray in this picture is traveling straight until it hits a different material and is reflected on to the white screen.

  3. Visible light is one component of the electromagnetic spectrum

  4. Light can be reflected with mirrors • In this picture, it shows the light hitting the two mirrors and is being reflected. • As it moves, the light moves to different angles.

  5. Light can be refracted with lenses • The lens in the picture is bending the light rays that travels through it. • Refraction makes straight objects in water look bent.

  6. Light is essential for vision • The light from a light bulb hits the duck and bounces off the surface of it into the human eye.

  7. Sound is affected by the matter through which it travels • Sound travels through solids, faster than gases. • And is louder when traveling through matter than gases.

  8. Description of how sound waves travel • Sound waves travel in all directions. • They get bigger the farther they travel. • They travel 331 m/s at 0 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius it travels 343 m/s per second • Sound travels faster through solids.

  9. Sound waves have length, frequency, and amplitude Wavelength Amplitude Frequency
