  2. Purpose To provide participants with information about the 2013-14 Kansas Course Code Management System Updates

  3. Importance of KCCMS • The KCCMS is the main source of data for a variety of reports and as such must be maintained accurately. • KCCMS is the central repository for course data. • Identifies qualified admissions courses approved for post-secondary institutions

  4. Why is it important to have accurate records in the KCCMS • EDCS • Pathway application • STCO

  5. Kansas Course Codes Updates • Corrected the “Incomplete Mapping” filter in the Local Courses Tab • Added a “save and duplicate” feature • Copies everything except sequence, credit, and local ID • Error message under the Local Courses and Course Map tabs if Effective date is prior to 7/1/2008

Kansas Course Code Updates • Message to user when deleting course asking if this is what they really want to do. • Added a filter for Inactive, Active and All Courses under the Local Courses, Course Map tabs • Added Qualified Admission Options: • E = Elective Qualified Admissions Course • Q = Qualified Admissions Course • N = Does not meet Qualified Admissions criteria

  10. Kansas Course Codes Updates • College/Career • Removal of value “C” – CTE credit in an approved and funded program/pathway and college credit • Removal of value “E” – CTE Exploratory course NOT funded in an approved program/pathway (7th and 8th grade only) (This is a file spec change.)

  11. CTE Only Course Mapping Designations F – All technical and application level courses in an approved Pathway in which only high school credit is earned by the student. This would be the correct designation for students who are enrolled in a dual-credit CTE class but, for various reasons, do not want the college credit and only want the high school credit. FUNDED

  12. CTE Only Course Mapping Designations L – Any course in an approved Pathway (intro-, technical, or application level) in which high school credit and college credit is earned. NOT FUNDED (state aid is provided for these courses in the form of tuition reimbursement for high school students from KBOR to the post-secondary institution offering the college credit)

  13. CTE Only Course Mapping Designations X – Introductory course in a Pathway NOT FUNDEDT- CTE course NOT part of an approved Pathway in which only high school credit is earned by the student. NOT FUNDED

  14. CTE Only Course Mapping Designations R - CTE course NOT part of an approved pathway (intro-, technical, or application level) in which high school credit and college credit is earned. NOT FUNDED (state aid is provided for these courses in the form of tuition reimbursement for high school students from KBOR to the post-secondary institution offering the college credit)

  16. Kansas Course Codes Update • CTE Course Review changes • No re-approval for changes in: • Local course ID (C4) • Local Course Title (C5) • Targeted Program (C12) • Added a field to the CTE Course Status tab that allows the course approver to see previous notes and decisions
