  2. Introduction • A root canal is a dental treatment that is done to remove the infected tissue and bacteria so that you are relieved from the severe pain. The main purpose of Root Canals Treatment in Pasadena is to save the tooth that has been badly infected. With today's modern technology and techniques, Root Canals have evolved into a comfortable treatment that requires one to two dental visits.

  3. What Is a Root Canal? • A root canal is a treatment that is designed to repair and save a tooth that is badly infected and decayed. During the procedure, a nerve and pulp which lie within the root canal are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed.

  4. When Root Canal is Needed? • A root canal is needed when there is an infection deep within the tooth. This infection has occurred due to some injuries or untreated cavity. Without Endodontic treatment, the infection could become severe enough and the tooth has to be removed. That's the reason our Endodontist in Pasadena recommends Root Canal treatment.

  5. Steps Involved in Root Canals Treatment? 1. Firstly, Our Pasadena Endodontist examines the infected tooth by taking a radiograph (X-Rays). Then, local anesthesia is used to numb the infected tooth. Once the tooth gets numb, our endodontist places a small protective sheet known as Dental Dam to isolate the tooth and keep it clean during the procedure.

  6. 2. An opening is made in the crown of the tooth. A small instrument is used to clean the root canals and pulp, from the pulp chambers and shape the space for filling.

  7. 3. Once space is cleaned and shaped, our endodontist fills the root canals with a biocompatible material known as gutta-percha. This material ensures complete sealing of root canals.

  8. 4. A temporary filling is placed to close the opening of the tooth. It will be removed by our Endodontist before the tooth is restored.

  9. 5. After a few weeks, our Pasadena Endodontist places a permanent crown on the top of the tooth to protect and restore it to full function. Depending on the condition of the tooth, our Endodontist may place a small supporting post inside the root of the tooth to make the crown more stable.
