  2. Objectives • Help you become aware of some different ways the lessons can be used at a ‘program’ as well as a ‘class’ level • To provide you with some ideas about partnering with nutrition educators in your community

  3. Focus Questions • What are some ways, on a ‘program level’ that the “Eating Well, Living Well’ lessons can be used? • What are some ways that individual teachers can integrate the lessons? • How can ESL programs and teachers partner with nutrition educators?

  4. Let’s watch this short video. Think about the focus questions as you watch.

Answers to Focus Questions • What are some ways, on a ‘program level’ that the “Eating Well, Living Well’ lessons can be used? • Programs can use the lessons for EL Civics, CBET or other classes with a focus on families or parents • In special ‘nutrition’ focus classes • Encouraging teachers to get training and share ideas

  6. Answers to Focus Questions • What are some ways that individual teachers can integrate the lessons? Teachers can: • Fit into ‘life skills’ curriculum • Survey student’s interests • Choose lessons that look interesting • Supplement with other activities • Use at the end of a related unit

  7. Answers to Focus Questions • How can ESL programs and teachers partner with nutrition educators? Teachers can: • Invite nutrition educators as Guest Speakers • Plan Health Fairs or other events • Have nutrition educators do cooking demos

  47. Steps… • You will see a full list of all the lessons (PDF files) • You can view, download and/or print any or all of the materials • You will receive periodic updates and information • You can print out these steps – click on ‘Downloads’
