  2. Multimedia Presentations • Refers to any application that combines text with • Graphics • Animation • Audio • Video, and/or • Virtual reality • A Web page that uses multimedia has more appeal than one with only text on a plain background

Graphics • Digital representation of non-text information such as a drawing, chart, or photograph. • The first media used to enhance the text-based Internet. • The introduction of graphical Web browsers allowed web page developers to incorporate illustrations, logos, and other images in Web pages. • Of the graphics formats that exist today, the two most JPEG and GIF

Animation • The appearance of motion created by displaying a series of still images in sequence. • Makes the Web page more visually interesting. • Draws attention to important information or links. • Web-based games often use animation. • Text that scrolls across the screen called tickers are also a form of animation.

  6. Audio • Includes music, speech, or any other sound. • Simple audio applications on the Web consist of individual sound files available for downloading to a computer. • There are many formats such as MP3, WAV, and MPEG

  7. Video • Consists of full-motion images that are played back at various speeds. • Simple video applications on the Web consist of movie or television clips. • Both Audio and Video us streaming process to transfer data in a continuous and even flow.

  8. Virtual Reality (VR) • The use of a computer to simulate a real or imagined environment that appears as a three-dimensional space. • Games often use VR.

  9. Electronic Commerce (E-Commerce) • A business transaction that occurs over the Internet. • Shopping, Investing, and Banking can be done online.

  10. Plug-Ins • Programs that extend the capability of a browser. • Usually free and run on all sizes of personal computers and mobile devices. • Two popular plug-ins • Acrobat Reader • Flash Player
