Broadcast Mechanism Phase 1 Phase 2 Transmission Interval Packet Veh.1 Veh.1 50m Collision Packet Veh.2 Veh.2 50m Veh.3 Veh.3 50m Veh.n Veh.n 50m Constant Interval Transmission Type Event Driven Type Each Vehicle Broadcasts a packet when 50 meters away from an intersection Each Vehicle Broadcasts packets with constant interval Parameters: -Transmission Interval -Packet Data Size -Vehicle Number etc. OSU-OKI Meeting

  5. PHY Layer Phase 1 Phase 2 1) Single Path Model 2) SNR Threshold Based Model (No Considering Modulation Type) 3) No Building at Intersection 1) Multi-Path Model (Reflection & Diffraction) 2) Considering Modulation Type 3) Buildings at Intersection Parameters: -Number of Multi-Path -Modulation Type(QPSK, OFDM) -Type of Building etc. OSU-OKI Meeting

  6. IVC Simulator Phase 1 Vehicle Traffic Simulator Wireless Simulator Trace Files Results - VTS and WS Runs independently each other. - It is difficult to evaluate QoS of safety application. Phase 2 Vehicle Traffic Simulator Wireless Simulator Results - VTS and WS Runs Simultaneously. - It is possible to evaluate QoS of safety application and reduction effect of traffic accident rate with IVC. OSU-OKI Meeting

  7. Plan for Phase 1 <Phase1:Feasibility Study>2002.05-2003.12 • Investigation of Wireless-LAN(IEEE 802.11x) Specification • Simulation Study and Analysis on Communication QoS Needs for Intersection Applications - Utilizing W-LAN/Oki Radios(DOLPHIN) - Utilizing New Oki Radios ↓ Modifythis simulator and advance simulation study in Phase 2 OSU-OKI Meeting

  8. Plan for Phase 2 (2004.01-2004.06) <Phase2:Simulation>2004.01-2004.06 • Simulation Study and Analysis on Communication QoS Needs for Intersection Applications Utilizing New Oki Radios and W-LAN - Retransmission - Broadcast Mechanism - Multi-Path Model - Consider Modulation Type - Evaluate QoS of Safety Applications OSU-OKI Meeting

  9. Plan for Phase 2 (2004.07-2004.12) <Phase2:Development & Field Test>2004.07-2004.12 • Production of Wireless Communication System with New Oki Radios (5.8 GHz DSRC,T75++) and W-LAN - GUI - Interface • Field Test and Performance Estimation 1) Left Turn Assistant - Utilize W-LAN/New Oki Radios 2) Crossing Collision Avoidance - Utilize Both New Oki Radios and W-LAN • Demonstration for Car Companies OSU-OKI Meeting
