District of Columbia Space Grant Consortium Scholarship/Fellowship Highlights • Scholarships/Fellowships are supported at all D.C. universities. • Since 1997, the DCSGC has supported 166 scholarships, fellowships, and research awards: • Undergraduate 43% Graduate 57% • Male 57% Female 43% • Underrepresented minorities 52% • Students who are deaf or hard of hearing 18%

District of Columbia Space Grant Consortium K-12 Highlights • TiViTz at Anne Beers Elementary (NASA Explorer School) • Botball and GLOBE teacher training workshops for teachers of deaf students • Space Explorers and INSPIRE teacher training workshops for D.C. public school teachers • Earth and Space Science course at Howard University for D.C. public school teachers • After School Astronomy Club/Science Education Training for D.C. public school teachers

District of Columbia Space Grant Consortium Higher Education Highlights • New space communications course at Southeastern University that stresses space communications and data mining • Creation of science websites and multimedia materials for the deaf and hard of hearing • Earth and Space Science course at Howard University aimed at recruiting undergraduate minority students to pursue aerospace degrees and careers • Intensive summer tutorial program at Howard University aimed at recruiting minority students majoring in the sciences to pursue graduate degrees in the sciences • Research internships at NASA and industry • Saturday Morning Satellite Club (link with Maryland Space Grant Consortium’s BalloonSat activities)

District of Columbia Space Grant Consortium Research Infrastructure Highlights • Howard University research infrastructure support including licenses and software used in research and teaching • Human spaceflight research by faculty and graduate students at Georgetown University • Dissemination of research results at professional conferences

District of Columbia Space Grant Consortium Public Outreach Highlights • Informal education presentations and activities throughout D.C. such as viewings of eclipses and other celestial events, Sun-Earth Connection events, etc. • Solar System Ambassadors Program • NASA Alumni League Website • Open House/Annual Conference
