  5. State History • Exploration • Hernando De Soto visited Arkansas and tried to claim it for Spain. • Settlement -Spanish people explored Arkansas.

  6. Statehood This state became the 25th state in the United States in June 15,1836. The first Governor of the state was William Jefferson Clinton.
