  2. animal An animal is a living creature. Ex. Dogs, cats, birds, insects and fish are all animals. Unit 1: Week 1

  3. imitate Imitate means to copy how someone else looks or acts. Ex. I can imitate the purring sound my cat makes. Unit 1: Week 1

  4. together Together means to be with others in a group. Ex. The children played ball together in the park. Unit 1 Week 1

  5. resemble If you resemble someone you look or act like him or her. Ex. Alligators resemble crocodiles in some ways, but are different in others. Unit 1 Week 1

  6. protect Protect means to keep safe. Ex. A seatbelt will protect you when riding in a car. Unit 1: Week 1

  7. activity An activity is something you do. Ex. My favorite activity is swimming. Unit 1: Week 2

  8. cooperate When you cooperate, you work together to do something. Ex. Everyone must cooperate to keep our classroom neat. Unit 1 Week 2

  9. exciting Something that is exciting is thrilling and not boring. Ex. A roller coaster ride is exciting. Unit 1 Week 2

  10. exhausted When you are exhausted you are very tired. Ex. The campers were exhausted after a long hike. Unit 1: Week 2

  11. gather Gather means to come together in one place. Ex. On Saturday, Lily’s family will gather together for a picnic. Unit 1: Week 2

  12. changes When something changes, it becomes different from before. Ex. The weather changed from sunny to rainy. Unit 1 Week 3

  13. relatives Relatives are people in a family. Ex. Jose spends every summer with his favorite relatives, Aunt Teresa and Cousin Marco. Unit 1 Week 3

  14. occasion An occasion is an important and special event. Ex. A wedding is a very happy occasion. Unit 1: Week 3

  15. eager An eager person wants to do something very much. Ex. My sister was eager to take her turn going down the slide. Unit 1: Week 3

  16. celebrate When you celebrate an event, you show that it’s special, often with a big party. Ex. The twins celebrate their birthday with one big party. Unit 1 Week 3
