  2. Encendido de las velas El día 16 de septiembre, en víspera de RoshHashaná, se encienden las velas y se recitan las bendiciones correspondientes. El 17, antes del encendido de las velas, se coloca en la mesa una fruta nueva de estación y, en el momento de recitar la bendición, se tiene presente mentalmente esa nueva fruta.  ShanáTováLa primera noche de RoshHashaná es costumbre desearse mutuamente:LeshnáTováTikatevVetejatem, que significa: Para un buen año, que sea inscripto/a y sellado/a.  Durante las comidasEn RoshHashaná es costumbre comer alimentos que simbolizan dulzura, bendiciones y abundancia. En la primera noche se moja la Jalá en miel, se dicen bendiciones y, luego, se come un trozo de manzana que también se remoja en miel. Otras costumbres incluyen comer la cabeza de un pescado, granadas y zanahorias. El sonido del Shofar Éste es el precepto central y más importante de la festividad. Se hace sonar el Shofar en el BeitHaknesetdurante los dos días de la festividad.

  3. Este año: RoshHashaná se celebra el primero y el segundo día de Tishrei. Este año que se inicia, el 5773, empieza el domingo 16 de septiembre de 2012 al atardecer, cuando sale la primera estrella, continuando durante los días 17 y 18 de septiembre.
