Pros of Punctuation Karate: • Caters to needs of visual; auditory and tactile learners. • Children are active while learning;good for ADHD and other highly active children • Practically ALL children are engaged; ‘no child is left behind’ • You can teach almost any aspect of punctuation using this system – each action relates to its written form • Once students have learned this, it shows in their writing • This will then transfer very easily to their word processing skills • It is a practically paperless method of learning!   4. 2: Period . 1: “peri” 2 “od” Punch your right fist into your left open hand while saying “peri-” and then punch out into the air in front of you to say “-od” Ruth Hoevertsz 2011 WALT use punctuation karate

  5. 3: Quotation marks / 66 and99 Bend your index and ring fingers of both hands back and forth while saying “quotation marks” or “66 and 99” for younger grades Ruth Hoevertsz 2011 WALT use punctuation karate
