  1. Problem 5SOLUTION B

  2. Problem Statement • Given: Yearly Tuition for a OSU student • Find: Height of a stack of one dollar bills sufficient to pay the tuition

  3. Each Team Members estimate • Billy • Tuition: 7,500 • Height: 58” • Colin • 9,000 • 72” • Shujia • 10,000 • 78’’

  4. Method • Estimate yearly tuition for the average student • To estimate the height of dollar bills, we folded one in half multiple times until we came up with 1/4in equals 32 bills • Estimated 1in equals 125 bills • Average tuition divided by the estimated bills in one inch to get the height of the stack of one dollar bills for OSU Tuition

  5. Assumptions • It would total up over 40in • It wouldn’t be over 100in • Different assumptions for tuition

  6. Solution • Tuition: 8,500 per year for OSU • Height of bills 1in=125 bills • Total height = 68in
