  2. Old Qualification Structure • SVQ Level 1 • 2 mandatory units and 2 optional units • SVQ Level 2 • 2 mandatory units and 3 optional units • SVQ Level 3 • 2 mandatory units and 4 optional units • SVQ Level 4 • 2 mandatory units and 4 optional units

  3. New Qualification Structure • SVQ Level 1 • 2 mandatory units and 4 optional units • SVQ Level 2 • 3 mandatory units and 5 optional units • SVQ Level 3 • 3 mandatory units and 5 optional units • SVQ Level 4 • 3 mandatory units and 5 optional units

  4. So what has changed? • More units to choose from. • Wider variety of units available. • Units are smaller and more focused. • Rules of combination apply.

  5. SVQ Level 1 • Six units must be completed: • 2 mandatory units; • 3 units from Group A; • 1 unit from Group A or 1 other from Group B; • At least four units must be Level 1 units.

  6. Rules of combination • SVQ Level 1: • Either unit from S109 or S212 may be chosen but not both (Document production); • At least 4 units chosen must be Level 1 units.

  7. SVQ Level 2 • Eight units must be completed: • 3 mandatory units; • 3 units from Group A; • 2 units from either Group A or Group B.

  8. Rules of combination • SVQ Level 2: • 19 rules of combination apply.

  9. SVQ Level 3 • Eight units must be completed: • 3 mandatory units; • 3 units from Group A; • 2 units from either Group A or Group B.

  10. Rules of combination • SVQ Level 3: • 22 rules of combination apply.

  11. SVQ Level 4 • Eight units must be completed: • 3 mandatory units; • 3 units from Group A; • 2 units from either Group A or Group B.

  12. Rules of combination • SVQ Level 4: • 4 rules of combination apply.

  13. Health Warning • Centres are responsible for checking units chosen comply with combination rules.
