ECML programme 2012-2015 • Diversity in majority language learning • Focus on teacher education for the majority language (e.g. French in France, Polish in Poland)   • Encouragement of collaboration between teachers of all languages • Expected outputs: • A review of practice in teacher education for majority language teachers • Sample teaching materials to illustrate good practice • Guidelines for teacher educators

ECML programme 2012-2015 • Language descriptors for migrant and minority learners’ success in compulsory education • Targeting educators’ awareness of learners’ need for successful schooling • Targeted age groups: learners aged 11/12 and 15/16 • Language competence required for curriculum subjects (social sciences and maths) • Expected outputs: • Descriptors in four languages (Finnish, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Portuguese) • Guidelines to draft levels for other languages

ECML programme 2012-2015 • Literacies through content and language integrated learning • CLIL approaches targeting academic literaciesin secondary education • Support for learners in attaining academic language proficiency • Expected outputs: • A guide for CLIL teachers / teacher educators on developing academic literacy at secondary level • A self-evaluation guide on good CLIL practice and sample teaching materials

ECML programme 2012-2015 • Collaborative community approach • to migrants’ education • Fostering links between schools, homes and the community: collaboration with parents, local libraries and art institutions • Enhancing literacy development through plurilingual approaches • Expected outputs: • Guidelines on the development of literacy for migrants in schools • Guidelines for cooperation between the community, parents and the school • Guidelines for the effective use of resources such as libraries and art centres

ECML programme 2012-2015 • Involving parents • in plurilingual and intercultural education • Mediating knowledge relating to cognitive and social benefits of plurilingual and intercultural education • Involving parents in activities and training teachers to overcome barriers to involve parents • Expected outputs: • Information material to inform the general public – especially parents - of the benefits of plural approaches • Networks of mediators to present and disseminate relevant approaches www.carap.ecml.at
