  1. Bell Work Draw a conclusion, if possible: All rectangles have congruent diagonals. ABCD is a rectangle. All squares have four congruent sides. GHIJ has four congruent sides. If l is perpendicular to m, then <ABC is a right angle. If <ABC is a right angle, then <BCD is complementary to <DBA. l is perpendicular to m. If x is divisible by 4, then it is an even number. If x is divisible by 3, it may be an even or an odd number. x is an even number.

  5. Properties of Real Numbers

  6. Two – Column Proofs

  7. Example 1 Pg. 93 • If AB + BC = DE + BC, then AB = DE. • m<ABC = m<ABC • If XY = PQ and XY = RS, then PQ = RS. • If 1/3x = 5, then x = 15. • If 2x = 9, then x = 9/2

  8. Example 2 Pg. 93 • Justify each step in solving

  9. Example • Justify each step in solving

  10. Check Your Understanding • Pg. 95 # 6 – 10, 12

  11. Summary • What is the first reason always in a two – column proof? • Why do we need to justify our steps? • What did you learn today?
