Class Expectations Students are expected to • come to class on time with materials, homework, and current work. • follow classroom routines and rules. • complete class work and homework on time. • see the teacher for any work missing work especially after an absence. • respect classmates and teacher. • work to the best of their abilities.

SpringBoard Units of Study • Unit 1 : The Stories of Change (personal narrative and study of story elements) • Unit 2: The Power to Change (literary response and expository essay) • Unit 3 : Changing Perspectives (researching and debating and argumentative letter) • Unit 4 : The Final Act (researching and presenting Shakespeare and performing scenes from The Taming of the Shrew)

  3. Units of Study • In every unit, students will focus on • sentence structure • capitalization • punctuation • spelling • word choice • purpose and audience

  4. Homework • SpringBoard Workbook pages • Vocabulary work • Drafting work • Revision and editing work • Grammar work • Publishing

  5. Grades • Students will be graded on the following: • Assessments (tests, quizzes, writing projects) 50% • Graded Assignments (both hw and classwork) 40% • Homework (completion) 10%

  6. Parental Involvement • Check the quality of your child’s work. • Provide a quiet place for your child to work, and establish a homework routine. • Check to see that your child has the supplies and materials s/he needs. • Check the planner. • Sign graded work, quizzes, and tests.
