Jeremiah 9: 23-24 • v-23-“Thus says the Lord, • Let not the wise man, glory in his wisdom, • Let not the mighty, glory his might, • Nor let the rich man glory in his riches, • v-24- But let him who glories, glory in this, • That he UNDERSTANDS and KNOWS me, • That I am the Lord exercising, • kindness, judgment and righteousness in the • earth, For these, I delight says the Lord”

  3. INTRODUCTION • 3 BRAGGINGS ON KNOWING GOD: • 1. Jeremiah 9:23-24- a new sense of pride when someone really knows the Lord ( not about the Lord) • “…let him glory in this, that he understand and knows me” • -Bragging on human wisdom. Might (health), riches

  4. INTRODUCTION • 2. Matthew 7: 23-“..I never knew you..” • -Bragging on Religious performances • 3. John 10:27- “My sheep hear my voice , and I KNOW them, and they follow me” • -Bragging on our own opinions • These 3 braggings are not vital signs of really • knowing God.

  5. INTRODUCTION • J.I.Packer- “Knowing God” • 4 characteristics of people who really • know God: • They have great energy for God. • They have great thoughts for God • They have great boldness for God • They great contentment in God.

  6. 5 Vital Signs (by-products) of knowing God: • 1. Character Development- ( Col. 3:2-5) • - It is Mind Preoccupation of things above • - Christ-like behavior is a way of life produced by preoccupation on things above. • It is a conscious worship of God and His • character. • We always become what we worship.

Freedom from Intimidation • Paul mentioned 4 classes of people who intimidated him: • Philosophers- they tell us of their own knowledge that we need to know, in order to know God. • Legalists- they try to convict people who did not adhere to their list of “do’s” and “don’ts”

  8. 5 Vital Signs (by-products) of knowing God: • Freedom from Intimidation • C. Ascetics- they tell people that they have not given enough yet • D. Mystics-.Man’s experience have not been deep enough.

Passion for the Lost • Earth-bound saints ,offer little to Hell- bound • sinners. • Power of printed page ( gospel tracts) • Charles Darwin-“ Origin of Species” • Karl Marx- “ Marxism” • Jehovah’s Witness-“ Watch Tower” • Bible in gospel tracts- have reached the world

  10. 5 Vital Signs (by-products) of knowing God: • 3. Passion for the Lost • Gospel Tracts: • Never get tired • Travels cheaply • No building like a chapel • Never losses its temper • A visitor to every home • Preaches in places where a preacher is not allowed • Remains after we are gone

Renewed Thoughts For God • Our Prayer should be- • “Oh God, is it true that I can be a worshipper of you? • I open myself for you, to do just that. • Let me know you, that I my know your anointing • in my life. I pray as I continue in your Book, • that you would not let me miss anything, • that you have for me. • In knowing you, I will love you, • And in loving you, I will make you known. Amen
