Objectives • Students will be able to recognize that an adaptation helps an animal survive in its environment. • Students will be able to recognize structural adaptations, hibernation and camouflage as types of adaptations. • Students will understand that animals have basic needs for survival. SC Standards: 2-1, 2-1.1, 2-1.2, 2-2

  3. Structural Adaptations A structural adaptation involves the animal’s body. Examples are • teeth • body coverings • movement

  5. Camouflage Camouflage allows an animal to “blend in” with its environment.
