The Relationship • Jack- Wielder of the Knife and male dominance- Father figure among the boys. The male is encouraged to go out and seek resources • Ralph- Wielder of the Conch and feminine community- Mother figure among the boys The female figured is encouraged to stay at home, prepare the resources, and protect the young. • Simon- the good child, innocent- happily follows orders, flees the sight of his arguing parents to a dark hiding spot
