Social Fund for Development (SFD) • SFD is a national organization reporting to the Cabinet and working under the umbrella of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) • The UNDP provides SFD with institutional and technical support and together they implement leading pilot projects. Social Fund for Development (SFD) • SFD was established in 1991 by the Presidential decree No. 40/1991 with the following objectives : • To participate in creating permanent job opportunities. • To participate in alleviating unemployment and provide basic services to poor communities. • To mitigate the adverse effects of the Economic reform Program and the transfer to free market economy.
