  1. Global Grant Scholarships District 6900 2014-2015

  2. Purpose • Forge a link between Rotary and the development of skilled professionals aligned with one of the Rotary Foundation’s six areas of focus.

  3. District 6900 Global Grant Scholarship • Up to 2 scholarships • $30,000 for the entire course of study • Starting in fall of 2014

  4. Desired Candidate Characteristics • Excellent leadership skills and potential • Proven record of success in academic field and/or vocation • Commitment to community service • Well defined and realistic goals for academic and professional future • Plan to pursue a career in 1 of the 6 areas of focus • Understands the aims and values of Rotary

  5. Rotary Foundation6 Areas of Focus • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution • Disease prevention and treatment • Water and sanitation • Maternal and child health • Basic education and literacy • Economic and community development

  6. Specific Eligibility Requirements • Proficient in native language of host country • Program of study at the graduate level • Willing to live in immediate vicinity of approved study institution • Willing to participate with a host Rotary Club and Rotary District • Will participate in required Scholar Orientation Forum in Atlanta July 26, 2014 • Only for new programs of study – not already underway

  7. Specific Eligibility Requirements • May not be • A Rotarian • An employee of a club, district, or any other Rotary entity • The spouse, lineal descendant, parent, or grandparent of any person in the first 2 groups • May be a Rotaractor • Must have legal residence, employed full time, or be a full-time student in District 6900

  8. 3 Step Process • Nomination by Clubs and completion of Global Grants Scholarship Application • Interview/selection by District 6900 Scholarship Committee* • Application submitted to the Rotary Foundation** *Must identify desired study institution **Must be admitted to study institution.

  10. Timeline • July-October – Clubs recruit, interview, and select candidates to propose to District Scholarship Committee • October 15 – Application, resume, and official college transcripts due • October 25 – Qualified applicants and Sponsor Clubs notified of interview schedule • November 9 – Applicant interviews • November 15 – Applicants and Sponsor Clubs notified of decision • November 15 – Winner proceeds with (step #3) submission of Application to Rotary Foundation
