Km; High; • Population Growth Rate (UN Projection): Btw. 6-8% • Projected Population : 20.19m (2010): 24.5m (2015) • 20 Local Governments & 37 Local Government Development Areas; 2600 Communities • Destination for all ethnic nationalities & ECOWAS; Opportunities for improved lives • One of 7 New Economic Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) Cities • Lagos is the product of Nigeria’s rapid urbanisation process

TRANSPORT • Key issues: • The BRT has been an important step forward in developing an effective mass transit system. • However, the majority of the population still rely on services provided by (old mini) buses, offering poor services at relatively high prices. • Poor connections • Lack of capacity in the existing road system • Poor traffic management

LAGOS PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP TOWARDS STRATEGIC PLANNING • Designed to encourage the flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). • Processing of specific proposals and these are at the implementation stage. • Lagos door open to investors and investment friendly for example Independent Power Projects (IPP), Tejuosho Urban Market, Affordable Housing Schemes, Lekki Road Project (Lekki Concession Company).

  26. EKO ATLANTIC Eko Atlantic is a dynamic new city that will rise from the Atlantic ocean adjacent to Victoria Island in Lagos, Nigeria the biggest and fastest growing city in West Africa. It is being built on land that is being reclaimed from the sea. Initial intention is to fight erosion/ocean upsurge.
