  6. United States Symbols and Their Meanings • The United States Flag • represents the entire country. Fifty stars represent the fifty states and thirteen stripes represent the original thirteen colonies that became the first thirteen states. • The Statue of Liberty • is a sign of friendship between countries and represents hope and freedom. • The Liberty Bell • was rung to summon citizens and mark important meetings or events. • The Bald Eagle • represents strength and freedom. • The White House • is a symbol for the government. • The National Anthem • is sung to show honor and loyalty.
