  2. Assessment & Accreditation • We are accredited by SACS – Southern Association of Colleges & Schools • There are several departments that have their programs accredited – such as through ABET

Assessment and Accreditation • SACS – Southern Association of Colleges and Schools • This is our Regional Accrediting body that re-accredits the University every 10 years • We are beginning to prepare for our 5th year report • As part of on-going SACS assessment – we complete our FCARs/ICAs each term (talk to your department for more information)

  4. Accreditation continued • Many departments have program accreditation • ABET (Engineering, Eng Tech, Comp Science, Software Eng, IT) • NAAB (Architecture) • ACBSP (Business Adm) • ACCE (Construction)

  5. QEP • QEP – quality enhancement plan • Here at SPSU we are implementing our QEP as Learning Communities • New freshmen students are registered into cohorts with SPSU 1001 (orientation), their major orientation class and ENG 1101. • Students will be creating a 2-year plan (all)

  6. What You can do • Be sure that you know we are forming the learning communities • Know what the QEP is • Assist Students in Creating their 2 year plan (if you have advisees)

  7. Assessment • Each faculty member is expected to participate in regular course assessment • We use special forms (FCAR or ICA) to collect end of course data

  11. Campus IDs & Parking Permit • Go to student center to get Campus ID AND Parking Permit in Auxiliary Services • You need to have that parking permit on your car immediately • You may pay $75 per term if you’d like to park in the parking deck

  12. Refer, refer, refer • Students are always asking you where things are: • You will be taking a tour (or use your campus map) so try to get an idea of certain places
