  2. 2 Qualifications • AQF: Australian Qualification Framework. You will gain Certificate II. This is recognised all across Australia. • VET Retail and some of the TVET subjects can deliver Certificate III. • HSC VET SUBJECTS and competencies achieved are recorded on your HSC.

  3. VET courses at ASC Board Developed Category B (ONLY 1 CAT B Subject can contribute to ATAR) • Business Services • Hospitality • Information Digital & Media Technology • Retail Services • Construction Pathways • Metal & Engineering Board Endorsed NO ATAR • Fitness • Sport Coaching • Furniture Making Pathways • Outdoor Recreation

  4. Assessment • Competency based • You choose to do the HSC exam. If you want an ATAR, do the exam. If you do not want an ATAR, no exam • You do not have to decide about the exam until September of your HSC year.

  5. How many VET courses can I do? • Many students complete 2 VET courses, some even complete 3. • However only one VET subject can count towards your ATAR.

  6. Workplacement • Workplacement is compulsory. • 35 hours in the Preliminary course • 35 hours in the HSC course.

  7. TVET • TVET is where you study a VET course at TAFE. • Interview with Mrs Hardman and a separate application process if you want to attend TAFE. • You cannot study a VET subject at TAFE if it is offered at school. • You cannot study more than 1 TVET course. • Complete on-line survey and schedule appoint with me

  8. TVET and ATAR • Some TVET courses can count towards your ATAR. These are ICF courses (Industry Curriculum Frameworks / Board Developed). • Some TVET courses do not count and are the equivalent of Content Endorsed courses. These are Non-Framework courses. • The TVET booklet gives this information or check with Mrs Hardman.

  9. School based apprenticeships or traineeships. • Combine one day a week paid work with a VET course. • Students have had traineeships in Business Services, Transport and Logistics, Metals, Nursing, Primary Industry, Retail and Hairdressing.
