  1. Project FASA-3 Thermal Multifragmentation:Experimental Study of Process Dynamics Spinodal State of Nuclear Matter Summer practice 2011, JINR Dubna

  2. Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna, RussiaDzhelepovLaboratory of NuclearProblems • Supervisor: • dr Waldemar Karcz (JINR Dubna) • Project participant: • Nowak Kacper (Poland) • Radomiak Dawid (Poland)

  3. Main Aim of the Project • Collision of relativistic proton with heavy nucleus

  4. Multifragmentation Multifragmentation—a process of an explosive type—is the main decay mechanism for highly excited nuclei. Nuclear multifragmentation takes a very short time to complete and is characterized by multiple production of intermediate-massfragments (3≤Z≤20). This process takes place after substantial expansion of a nucleus under the action of the thermal pressure. Investigations of nuclear matter at low densities and high excitation energies provide information about the liquid–fog and liquid–gas phase transitions in final nuclei.

  5. Classical& NuclearEquations of State Van der Waals system -1875 Nuclear system (Skyrme, 1961) (relative units: V/Vc; p/pc ;T/Tc)

  8. Experiment equipment description The outward appearance of the contemporary FASAsetup is shown in Pic. 1. A metal frame ~1m in diameter forms a mechanical base of the construction. Theframe is shaped as a dodecahedron with 12 facets for Polar θ and azimuthal ϕ angles of the telescope–spectrometers of the FASA setup with respect to the beam vector fastening ten flanges with detectors and two moreflanges used to install the entire construction at thebeam axis. Detectors are also attached to the latter twoflanges except for their center parts, where the beampasses through the entrance and exit pipes.
