  3. Consider New Technology • Goals for coming year: maximize use of web site and email to drive district wide communication with parents and Los Gatos community • Coalesce the various print pieces into one or two mailings per year – “State of the District” approach • Use email and hot links to replace technical or detailed print communication – email program should drive readers to website

  4. Develop Key Messages • Basic facts to remind broader community: 5 schools, 2800+ students, distinguish K-8 district from HS district • District successes in teaching and learning • Strong co-curricular programming in music, arts, character education • Continued growth in enrollment reflects the academic strengths and positive school climates in the district • Financial stability over time and new processes to protect the district’s resources into the future

  5. Implementing a new communication plan Decisions: • Frequency of print contact with parents, broader community • Use of email/web for “accountability” documents • Email infrastructure: use in house system or consider commercial provider to add functionality • Start up phase for new plan – work in-house or use external support? • Process to develop detail for key messages • Strategic planning connections • “Branding” the district – logo?
