  9. The Project Constraints The Quality of your work is dependent on three factors. Quality = Defects + Expected Scope + Value Discipline helps you achieve your goals.

  10. Scope Management Scope is what you are delivering. Understanding who it is for is critical. • Collect Requirements - Understand Customer • Define Scope - What is in and out • Create WBS - What is your task list • Verify Scope - With the customer • Control Scope - Avoid scope creep The key to successful work using Scope Management is FOCUS

  11. Time Management A common failure in a project is under estimating time for tasks then schedules are not met. • Define Activities (WBS) - “Tasks” to complete • Sequence Activities - “Steps” in order • Estimate Activity Resources - What is needed • Estimate Activity Durations - How long • Develop Schedule - Often the “Plan” • Control Schedule - Keep track Time Management keys are manageable size tasks, critical path and milestones.

  12. Cost Management The better the estimates the easier to manage. • Estimate Costs - Determining what it will cost • Determine Budget - “Cost performance baseline” • Control Costs - “Monitor and Accounting” How well do you do with managing costs to the original baseline budget?

  13. Quality Management There are two main aspects to quality; one is project quality, and two is deliverable quality. • Plan Quality - Sets expectations • Perform Quality Assurance - Following Q - process • Perform Quality Control - Inspecting deliverables Quality = Defects + Expected Scope + Value
