  3. Subjugated (vb) • Prefix=sub=under • Root=jug=to join • Definition=to join force of a nation under another’s control • When Germany took over, they were subjugated and had to follow their rule.

  4. Telethon (n) • Root=tele=far • Root #2=athon=event • Definition=a telephone fundraiser which runs non-stop • Around the holidays radio stations have telethons for people to adopt families in need.

  5. Desecrate (vb) • Root=sacr=holy, sacred • Definition=to damage something considered sacred, holy, important • Air and water pollution desecrate the environment.

  6. Decimate (vb) • Root=deca=ten, ten times • Definition=destroy a large portion of people, animals, or things • Their kind was decimated after the bomb was dropped.
