  1. Monday, November 1st • New teams today based on your multiple intelligence! • Get out your new spiral notebook (or if you can use your old one, you can rip out the pages, staple them, & hang on to them for the end of course exam. • Open to the first page and label this “A.” This will be your Title Page. • Include your name, Dr. Landrum, and the period • Decorate! • On the backside of this page will be “B” with the evaluations attached.

  2. Interactive Notebook • The next page (right) is labeled “C.” This is where you will glue the Set-up for Student Notebook • The backside of this page is labeled “D.” This is where you will attach the 9-week syllabus. • The next page is your Table of Contents

  3. 9-Week Syllabus • Review • Attach in the notebook on page “D.” • Have your parents email me or write me a letter for a homework pass.

  4. China Vocabulary Preview • Quiz/Quiz Trade • Students will memorize the definition to their word on the index card. When the music plays, the students will walk around and find a partner when it stops. After instructions for which partner goes first (someone with the most pets), students will take turn quizzing each other on the word. Students will then switch cards, memorizing the new answer. • Pictionary/Charades • Students will come up with their group and act out or draw one of their terms for the class to guess.

  5. Tuesday, November 2nd • Open to page 50, Chapter 2, section 4 • Open your interactive notebook and Title page 1 “River Dynasties in China.” Update your table of contents. • Skim this section, and be ready to respond.

  6. Quick Write: p.1, left side • In one or two sentences, predict what you think you will learn from this section. • You will be passing clockwise, reading and responding to each person in your group. Time will be called before you need to pass again. You will have 1 minute to read and respond.

  7. Page 1, RIGHT side: Magnet Summary • Your group will be given one of the four sections for your magnet summary. Remember, on the left you will select 5 or fewer words that act like a magnet to the given term (the bold sub-headings). • After you have chosen your words, you will be switching your paper with your shoulder partner (or amongst all 3 if there are 3 in the group). The partner will then write a summary of that section using your words.

  8. Dueling Flip Charts • The room will be divided into 2 teams • Each team will stand up and form a line. • The team members will take turns writing one fact learned from this section on the flip chart, and then return to the back of the line. • The group will be timed. When the time is called, everyone will go back to their seats and the lists will be read to determine the winning team.

  9. Wednesday, November 3rd Set up your notebook page 2 for “The Unification of China.” Update your table of contents After you have completed your title and table of contents, walk around the room and pick two of the four statements or pictures. Write on the left side what these mean to you. (Confucius, Laozi, Yin/Yang, Great Wall of China)

Thursday, November 4th • REVIEW • Rally Coach • Students will compete to see who which team can guess the vocabulary words the quickest, as one partner is looking at the words and coaching, and the other is standing with his/her back to the words. • Vocabulary Categories • At your group, organize all the vocabulary words into categories of your choice. Be ready to defend your choices. • Quiz #1 Tomorrow: CHINA

  13. Friday, November 5th • In the back of your interactive notebook, label the last 4 pages W, X, Y, Z • On “W”, write the date in the left margin and respond to the following: • My culture is similar/different from the Chinese culture because… • Quiz #1 • Discussion
