  1. Data Center Services Facilities Management Production Support Operations

  2. Data Center Services provides: • 24/7 operations of the Data Centers located on the Mt. Washington and East Baltimore campuses, including controlling physical security and facilities management of the Data Centers. • Timely processing of data, including backups on the various platforms housed within the Data Centers • The production and delivery of electronic and printed reports • Control of the production environment through change management • Monitoring of various systems. Data Center Services is comprised of three services: Production Support, Operations and Facilities Management.

Production Support was created to bridge the process and procedural gaps between applications development, technical support, and operational areas for application implementation control and support services. Production Support provides the following for identified production and test environments: • Application implementation support • Problem and change management • Analysis for performance improvements in procedure or application processing flow • Automated scheduling • Online report viewing and report distribution • Statistical trends.

  4. Production Support Overview: • Job Scheduling • Report Archiving, Distribution, Online Viewing • ServiceCenter • Print Services (VPSX) • sFTP • General administration support for OCS, Sharepoint, and Sympa Specific applications support • Application Support • Change & Incident Management

  5. Operations is a 24/7 organization that supports both JHHS and JHU systems and applications. Operating out of the Mt. Washington Data Center, Operations: • Monitors both mid-range and mainframe systems • Complies with daily batch processing schedules • Prints and distributes an average of 935,000 printed pages per month • Co-ordinates with the off-site storage vendor to ensure the necessary requirements to satisfy our Disaster Recovery initiatives are maintained.

  6. Facilities Management offers managed data center environmental controls, power distribution, load balancing, backup power systems, controlled security accesses and monitoring. Co-location services such as server hosting is also offered.

MTW Data Center Attributes • 11,822 square feet of raised flooring divided into two rooms • Primary power: A/B redundancy • Backup power: two 1000 kw UPS and four 1200 kw generators • Cooling capacity of 720 tons • FM-200 clean gas fire suppression • Sprinkler system • Staffed 24/7 • Card key access • Security cameras at entry/egress • 24/7 onsite facilities support The MTW facility was opened in May, 2005, as a 5,332 square foot center. A second center, 6,490 square feet, was opened in November, 2008. The facility has been operating at 100% availability since 2006.
