  8. The Present Day Neighbourhood Watch – Conclusion • A website just isn’t enough • It will do people little good when there is a threat right on there doorstep • Neighbourhood Watch is solely pre-emptive • Once a crime is committed thePolice are ultimately the only ones who can follow up on these problems • Therefore website upgrades are needed in order to improve the awareness of communities and coordinators • Police response times need to be faster and more accurate • Whether it is to help someone in danger or in the pursue a criminal Slide 8 – The Present Day Neighbourhood Watch - Conclusion MU301 – Multimedia in Business and Industry – Neighbourhood Watch

  9. The Present Day Neighbourhood Watch – Solution • A connected community • Using the latest Radio-frequency technology • Upgraded NW website for community coordinators and members • Internet access in every home • A stead-fast Police force • Greater surveillance powers by utilising this new initiative • Track the trouble makers, protect the innocent • Faster response times / Counter crimes before they occur • Operation: Vigilance… Slide 9 – The Present Day Neighbourhood Watch - Solution MU301 – Multimedia in Business and Industry – Neighbourhood Watch

  10. What is Operation: Vigilance? • Utilises Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) chips imbedded into a small device in order to transmit your location • Small enough to fit into a device that can be attached to your car/house keys • Contains National Insurance Number Metadata so each tracker is unique to each individual, easy to replace if lost or damaged • The frequency can be picked up by the local police in order to track and know the precise location of each NW member through software Slide 10 – What is Operation: Vigilance? 11. The Technology Behind Vigilance – Free Wi-Fi Communities • As part of the deal NW communities will have access to free Wi-Fi internet access How it works: • - Wi-Fi Transmitters will first be installed into key lamp posts on the street. • - Fibre optic cable will be routed through the lamp post, while power will be disturbed evenly between the two devices • - Members of that Neighbourhood will then be given the unique access key to benefit from joining the scheme.- Free internet access is the key marketing push to acquire new NW communities into the scheme. Ultimately creating even more NW communities in the process. Slide 11 – The Technology Behind Vigilance – Free Wi-Fi Communities MU301 – Multimedia in Business and Industry – Neighbourhood Watch

  12. The Technology Behind Vigilance – The Trackers • In return the NW community is given tracking modules to equip to there person and valuables > Tracking: AA 00 00 00 A How it works: • - The RFID chip embedded in the device emits a radio signal which can be picked up by the Police allowing them to monitor. • - Stolen objects can be tracked using this module.- As part of the deal, each NW member must equip the module to their keys, since this is the number one item taken when leaving the house. The small lightweight design eliminates the need for them to wear peripherals. 13. ------------------------- ------------------------- ---------------- ---------------- ---------------- ---------------- ---------------- ---------------- ---------------- ---------------- The Technology Behind Vigilance – Online Tracking • NW members can use the upgraded website to take full advantage of the new technology How it works: • - The user will visit the new webpage and login with their unique username and password. • - The user will then be taken to a limited version of the tracker, in which they are only allowed to see things they have registered. • - In this scenario the red dog (the parent) is keeping an eye on his/her child at school. Slide 13 – The Technology Behind Vigilance – Online Tracking MU301 – Multimedia in Business and Industry – Neighbourhood Watch

  14. DENKAGO GLOBAL SECURITY The Organisations Involved – Bristol Scenario • For Vigilance to work, the following organisations would have to be involved: *Fictional Corporation • Bristol City Council • Denkago Global Security* • A Neighbourhood Watch Community • Avon & Somerset Police • - Uses the Tracking Modules to track and maintain order within the NW communities • - NW Coordinators work with Police to insure the safety and security of citizens within there community • - Access to free Wi-Fi • - Works along side Denkago Global Security to plan and setup the Wi-Fi instillations and distribution of the Tracking Module to NW citizens • - Contracted to install and maintain the Wi-Fi hotspots • - Manufacturers of the Tracking Module Slide 14 – The Organisations Involved MU301 – Multimedia in Business and Industry – Neighbourhood Watch

  15. The Benefits • Neighbourhood Watch Benefits: • Free Wi-Fi for the entire NW community • Parents will be issued spare tracking modules for there children • Parents will be able to track there children using the upgraded NW website • Home owners will also be issued spare tracking modules to protect there property • Knowing the Police are watching them will bring piece of mind • Police Benefits: • Any NW member can be located in seconds in case of an emergency • The capability to monitor citizens without the need of sending out personnel • Utilising street cameras and RFID chips together will allow the Police to monitor areas with ease • Stolen property that is RFID tagged can be traced back to the criminals location with minimal effort • Tracking software provided and setup by Denkago Global Security, greatly minimising the cost for the Police Slide 15 – The Benefits MU301 – Multimedia in Business and Industry – Neighbourhood Watch

  16. DENKAGO GLOBAL SECURITY The Benefits • Council Benefits: • Long Term • The reduced rate in crime will allow the Council to put resources into other services • Reduced crime could see an increase in new homeowners moving in • Denkago Benefits: • Vigilance initiative paid for by the Council e.g. setting up the wi-fi hotspots to installing the software • Maintains control of the Wi-Fi infrastructure • Can acquire data on the Police’s use of its proprietary RFID tracking software • Has the capability to monitor and store data about the RFID tracking modules in use by MW members • Success could mean Government based contracts to setup more Vigilance initiatives nationwide Slide 16 – The Benefits MU301 – Multimedia in Business and Industry – Neighbourhood Watch

  17. The Future Goals • Operation: Vigilance Nationwide • Every citizen tracked • Citizens with criminal records by law would have to be implanted with an RFID tracking module • “Friend or Foe” technology would allow the local police through the use of software to sort citizens • E.g. A Gang could be monitored entering a peaceful estate and be stopped in there tracks • Resulting in a safe and secure society for all… Slide 17 – The Future Goals MU301 – Multimedia in Business and Industry – Neighbourhood Watch
