  3. “technical” name = language technique • Make = persuade – influence – effect – manipulate – position • reader / listener / viewer = responder / reader / audience / “you” • “feel” = respond - react – develop a particular point-of-view – question a popular opinion • particular way = sympathetic – resentment – joy – angry – happy – passionate – frustrated – agitated – enthusiastic… What does that mean?

  4. Just like numbers… emotive words have a positive and a negative value Negative language gives a text negative tone
