  1. Learning God’s Design: SimplicityPhilippians 3.12-16

  2. In most people's vocabularies, design means veneer. It's interior decorating. It's the fabric of the curtains or of the sofa. But to me, nothing could be further from the meaning of design. Design is the fundamental soul of a human-made creation . . . Steve Jobs

  3. "Any fool can make things complicated, but it requires a genius to make things simple" E. F. Schumacher

  4. Simplicity is the power to do less of what doesn’t matter. Simplicity is the power to do more of what does matter.

  5. This only have I found: God made mankind upright, but men have gone in search of many schemes." Ecclesiastes 7.29

  6. Simplicity is an inward reality that results in an outward life-style. True inward simplicity will have a profound effect on how we live. To attempt to arrange an outward life-style of simplicity without the inward reality leads to deadly legalism. Experiencing the inward reality liberates us outwardly. Richard Foster

  7. It's taken me all my life to learn what not to play. Dizzy Gillespie

  8. If you don’t seek the kingdom first, then you don’t seek it at all.

  9. Simplicity is not simplistic Simplicity is not legalistic Simplicity is not simple-minded

  10. The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. Matthew 13.22

  11. Reject anything that produces an addiction in you. Develop a habit of giving things away. Refuse to buy into the culture. Learn to enjoy things without owning them. Resist getting into debt. Reject anything that oppresses others. Refuse anything that distracts you from the kingdom. Richard Foster

  12. Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful. John Maeda

  13. Simplicity is the power to do less of what doesn’t matter and the power to do more of what does matter.

  14. Do less of what doesn’t matter What areas of your life have become complicated? How has complexity stolen your energy and time? When did this complexity begin? How has complexity bred complications? What “system” in your life is creating complications?

  15. So what does matter?

  16. Learning God’s Design Means having One focus – "One thing you lack.” Mark 10.21 “Only one thing is needed.” Luke 10.42 “But one thing I do.” Philippians 3.13

  17. “Simplicity means the achievement of maximum effect with minimum means.” Dr. Koichi Kawana

  18. Learning God’s Design Means living with clarity “Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.” John 8.43 “Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.” 1 Peter 4.7

  19. One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. Psalms 27.4

  20. God’s design is profoundly simple
