  1. Hexact ver. 2.1.1 a short introduction www.districtenergy.danfoss.com

  2. Hexact 2nd generation Short overview • The title “Hexact 2nd generation” indicate a mayor change to previous versions of Hexact • Current ver. 1.5.7b will be phased out and ver. 2.1.1 is the first of the 2nd generation. • Ver. 2.1.1 include: • Update of User Interface (GUI) • Simplified Duty screen with no scroll bares. • Pop up boxes for detailed data. • Data can be saved as default. • Personal settings. • Enhanced print out functions. • Tailor made calculations.

  3. Personal Settings • Starting up ver. 2.1.1 first time the User will be asked to fill in the “Personal Settings”. • Some of these cells are mandatory. • The mandatory information are used for several purposes e.g. at print outs. • “Region” is very important as it define from where the calculated HEX are coming from: • Europe: Kamnik • China: Anshan

  4. Application box • First 3 tabs are dedicated to RC use. • X Standard: no change • X OEM: dedicated to OEMs and include only XB range • XGC: Dedicated Russian users • X Traco: Dedicated Serbian OEM • X Europe: Include XB, XG and XGC range and can be used for calculating obsolete products e.g. XB40. • Pre released: XB Obsolete is out and included into “X Europe”. Used for products to be tested on yet not released for sale. • Obsolete products: • “X Standard” are for non-Danfoss Users and for Danfoss User with no need having access to XGC or Obsolete products • “X Europe” are for Danfoss Users who need access to calculate Obsolete products.

  5. X Europe, XB (as example) Duty screen • Simplified layout based on input from Test Team • No scroll bars needed • All bottoms and input cells visible on laptop screen • Mode: as in previous versions • Heat exchanger: as in previous versions • “Load” and “Surface Margin” moved to this part • Rest of the Duty input as in previous version • Jump between the input cells by using the tab key on your keyboard, starting at “Load”

  6. X Europe, XB (as example) Duty screen, bottoms • Not so often used data is stored in pop up boxes; activating by pressing the “Option” or “Config” bottoms. • After typing in the four temperatures of the duty a temperature graph pops up right to the Duty screen. This graph can be activated/de-activated by pressing the “Temp” bottom. • “Options” box is for more specific data, which can be used to filter the selected HEX models. Your values can be saved as default and default can be activated also. “Options” box can be activated/de-activated by pressing the “Options” bottom. • “Config” is for specifying the plate configuration, normally used in Rating and Performance mode.

  7. X Europe, XB (as example) Duty screen, Options bottom • Some of the input cells you will recognize from previous versions Duty screen. • Some drop down lists only include one value, but as our product range will expand over time, more options will be added. • Plate material: If you don’t want to use EN 1.4301 material be sure choosing EN 1.4404. • Delivery concept: • Choose “Obsolete” if you want to calculate some of the discontinued products. • When selecting “C” also models with “A” and “B” delivery time are selected.

  8. X Europe, XB (as example) Duty screen, Options bottom • Design Pressure (max): • Models with a design pressure less than stated by the User will not be selected. E.g. by typing “16” bar, models with design pressure of 10 bar won’t be calculated. • Design Temp. (Max/Min): same as for “Design Pressure” • Max Port Velocity can be used for specifying a max allowed velocity in the selected HEX. • Only models with a porthole at a size creating a velocity less than specified will be selected. • “Save As Default”: the specified values will be stored as default. • “Use the Default”: by pressing the bottom the default values will be used.

  9. X Europe, XB (as example) Duty screen, Config bottom • Used for defining the exact configuration the HEX e.g. numbers of plates, plate profile, numbers of passes. • Standard numbers of plates: will always be ticked on (User can’t calculate a tailor made XB). Reason is that XB is only sold as Standard range. • Mixed is Allowed: only for tailor made calculations, exception is for the XB51(PN16) as block mixed. • One channel more: Standard range all got one channel more at side 2. • 2-AC: Works as in previous versions. By ticking it on input cells are visible in Duty Screen.

  10. X Europe, XG (as example) Duty screen, Tailor Made • “Standard numbers of plates” is ticket off a Tailor Made calculation will be performed. • “Mixed is Allowed” is ticket on a Tailor Made calculation is made, where H- and L- plates are mixed (for models allowing this) • Example of pure and mixed channels: • Pure channel: • Mixed channel: • In above examples 29% plates are saved by allowing mixed channels.

  11. X Europe, XG (as example) Duty screen, Performance mode • As in ver. 1.5.7b a specific model can be calculated by using either Rating or Performance mode. • Ver. 1.5.7b only Standard range could be calculated • Ver. 2.1.1 got a full flexibility • Activate “Config” box to configure the HEX you want to calculate. • Standard range: • Tick on “Standard numbers of plates” • Pass # and channel type will be activated based on the selected model chosen • Numbers of plates are selected in the Duty screen as by ver. 1.5.7b

  12. X Europe, XG (as example) Duty screen, Performance mode • Ticking off “Standard nu……” you are now able configure the numbers of plates you want. • “Asymmetric channel” is used when “2-AC” is ticket on. • Used for 2-pass only • “2-AC” is a 2-stage (After Cooling) application, where numbers of plates in pre-heater (close to movable endplate) pass are higher than in after post-heater (pass close to front of HEX). • “Channel1” cell is for post-heater and “Channel2” is pre-heater.

  13. X Europe, XG (as example) Duty screen, Performance mode • “Mixed channel” is where you are mixing flow channel profiles in same pass. • Instead of having clean H-channels (H-plates), M-channels (mix of H- and L-plates by every second) or L-channels (L-plates) the plate pack can be mixed as following: • “HM”: first part of the plate pack are H-channels and second part M-channels. • “ML”: first part of the plate pack are M-channels and second part L-channels.

  14. X Europe, XG (as example) Selection Screen • As known by ver. 1.5.7b • Data and result of the selected (highlighted model is shown in Result screen.

  15. X Europe, XG (as example) Result Screen • Result screen consist of following tabs: • Duty & Media • Mechanical configuration • Dimensional data • Accessories • Punch List • BOM • Data and result of the selected (highlighted model is shown in tabs of the Result screen.

  16. X Europe, XG (as example) Result Screen, Duty & Media • “Duty & Media” show: • The duty which where typed in Duty screen and also the calculated values. • Fluid properties • More technical values used in the calculation.

  17. X Europe, XG (as example) Result Screen, Mechanical configuration • “Mechanical configuration” show: • What the selected HEX consist of. • You can change various materials e.g. plate thickness. The GPL will then be updated in “Selection screen” • “Extension”: you can ask Hexact to use a frame that take e.g. 10% more plates than calculated. • When selecting a customers painting, the GPL disappear and a warning come up.

  18. X Europe, XG (as example) Result Screen, Dimensional data & Accessories • “Dimensional data” and Accessories are known from previous versions of Hexact, only has it got a face lift.

  19. X Europe, XG (as example) Result Screen, Punch List • “Punch List” is the recipe of which plates to add where in the HEX and is used by assembling it in production.

  20. X Europe, XG (as example) Result Screen, BOM • “BOM” is the Bill of Material and is used by order handling and in production.

  21. X Europe, XG (as example) Result Screen, Print Out functions • Most of the information to be found in the tabs of the Result Screen are also included in one of the new Print Outs.To print use same icon in the menu bar as by ver. 1.5.7b: “ReportOut”.New is the “Project Dialog” box: • A unique quote number is generated automatically making the calculation and print traceable. • User can add information about the project and customer, which he want to be at the Print Outs. • User can select what type of Print Outs he want. • When pressing “Print” the selected Print Outs are first saved and then opened in Excel.
