    1. The Bathypelagic Zone. By Izabella Morales.

    2. Facts. The Bathyal layer is called the bathypelagic zone. It is also called the midnight zone or the twilight zone. This zone extends from 1000 meters (3281 feet) down to 4000 meters (13,124 feet). The only visible light is one that is produced by the marine animals themselves. The water pressure at this depth is immense, reaching 5,850 pounds per square inch. of the pressure, a surprisingly large number of creatures can be found here. Most of the animals that live at these depths are black, red, or transparent in color due to the lack of light. Photosynthesis does not occur in this zone because the zone is dark. Except in the clear nearly dead waters of the tropic.

    3. The level of dissolved gases in the bathyal zone is low. The temperature is about 39 degrees Fahrenheit. The water pressure in this zone is very intense. The biodiversity here is less populated then the layer above, but it still has its majority of fish. It goes from the small plankton to the big sperm whales and further more. The bathyal zone doesn’t just carry its main fish which are mostly the angler fish, squid, jelly fish etc. It also carries other fish too, some fish that are predators to other fish in the bathyal zone come down to this layer and find its prey.
