  2. Agenda • SCELCapalooza • SCELC’s OPP • Camino update • Staff Changes • SCELC Initiatives • SPIF • Discovery Research Project • Shared Print

  3. SCELCapalooza 3 • A full week of SCELC events • Here are the registration numbers: • Research Workshops Day: 56 • Research Day: 80 • Colloquium: 146 • Vendors vs. Librarians bowling tournament - 80 • Vendor Day: 209 • Be sure to use sched.org to help plan your time at Vendor Day!

  4. The New SCELC OPP • Offers Proposal Program • Vendors provide preliminary offer information • Librarians vote on proposed offers • We use the SCELC web site to obtain feedback to gauge interest on a new offer • Two or more libraries might trigger an offer • Once an offer is crafted, it’s posted on the web site with pricing • To view pricing you must use your web login

  5. Before one librarian votes…

  6. After one librarian votes…

  7. Tallied votes of all librarians

  8. Camino Update Drivin’ El Camino • Fourteen libraries now in Camino • Added Hope International University this fall • Several more libraries may be interested in joining • California Lutheran University • Fuller Theological • Palo Alto University • … and others TBD

  9. SCELC Staff Update • Tommy Keswick left SCELC at the end of 2013 • New Library Relations Manager position has been created • Anne Harris has been hired for this position • Will provide organizational lead on customer service • Will act as gateway to triage all customer service inquiries, either responding directly or redirecting to appropriate staff • Will provide marketing and support for SCELC member benefits • Will help develop methods to measure customer satisfaction

  10. SCELC Initiatives Update • SCELC Project Initiatives Fund (SPIF) • Documentation to be posted • Resource Sharing Initiatives • Discovery Research Project

  11. Discovery Research Project 11 • Two of the three principal researchers are from SCELC (Jason Price and John McDonald, USC) and the third is from a SCELC affiliate, Michael Levine-Clark • The next phase of the study will includes a survey of discovery and its impact among SCELC libraries • SCELC funding of this project provides SCELC branding in a new area: Resarch • It also dovetails nicely with our Research Workshop Day and Research Day events, demonstrating the power of librarians when they are able to do high-level, professional research • This is a real-world demonstration of the kind of work SCELC is now promoting through the IMLS grant project at LMU (where SCELC was part of the grant).

  12. Shared Print Project • I now present Karen Schneider, Chair of the SCELC Resoruce Sharing Committee • Karen will summarize our resource sharing initiatives • Bob Kieft, who has ably steered our Shared Print feasibility study, will then present a detailed summary of this exciting new project
