  13. Beijing Normal University (BNU) has a history of over 100 years. It is internationally renowned, and one of the top ten among the over 2500 universities in China. The beautiful Beijing Normal University Zhuhai Campus (BNUZ) was established in 2002. The student population now reaches 19000, from all over the country. Its degree is well recognized internationally and in Hong Kong, and some of the BA graduates are currently Master students at HKU.

  14. BNUZ is located in Zhuhai, which is, based on a survey ,one of the happiest cities and model city of ecology and rapid development in China. Zhuhai enjoys convenient transportation, which is only a 70-minute ferry ride from HK.

  16. The School of Chinese, BNUZ , follows the excellent culture and academic traditions of BNU. • It cultivates students to obtain a good master of Chinese, English and Cantonese, and to be knowledgeable, capable, skillful and competitive in job hunting.

  17. According to the “Employability List of College Students” by the Education Data Consultancy Mycos in 2009, the major of Chinese language and Literature ranked first nationwide.

  19. The BNU & BNUZ BA degree program in Chinese language is designed especially for International Students. It has been offered at BNU since the 1950’s and it is rated the best in the kind.

  20. BNUZ has recently been authorized to provide the same program with an emphasis on Business Chinese and to include Putonghua, English and Cantonese in the program. Graduates will have the Chinese language competence and an understanding of Chinese society and culture sufficient for work in international business or educational/cultural communication with China.

  21. Aims • The most important purpose of BNUZ in including NCS students of Hong Kong in their student recruitment is to get the NCS students who are dedicated to work for excellence in the area and give them an opportunity to realize their strong potential.

  30. Partnerships:To maintain a language-learning partnership with Chinese students to practice Mandarin and Cantonese outside the classroom.

  32. Internships: Opportunities are provided in the last (8th) semester to work as an intern in companies in HK and the Pearl Delta Area, international schools in the Chinese Mainland or primary schools and high schools in HK.

Financial Assistance & Fellowships • The SSP/USP projects of HKU that support the learning of Chinese by NCS- studentsare now offering financial assistance to at least 5 outstanding NCS secondary school graduates to study at BNUZ for their first year extensible on a yearly basis. • BNUZis offering Scholarships to excellent students each year.

  34. Degree • A bachelor’s degree is conferred if students meet all the requirements in Regulations of BNUZ on Bachelor’s Degree Awarding.

  35. Fee • Tuition Fee:24,000 RMB/year • Housing :1700RMB/yearfor each person (a triple room) • Dining fee:about 300 – 500RMB/month
