TTCN-3 Maintenance in 2009 • STF 380: March 2009 – Dec. 2009 (118 days) • Members: • Gyorgy Rethy, Ericsson • Tibor Csondes, Ericsson • Jens Grabowski, University of Goettingen • Ina Schieferdecker, FOKUS • Two TTCN-3 „Releases“ • TTCN-3 v4.2.1 interim version as an 3GPP/LTE maintenance update in summer • TTCN-3 extension by end of 2009 STF 380 Report at MTS#49

STF 380 tasks • Resolution of open CRs • Cooperation with STF 160 on LTE testing • Extensions for real-time and performance • Real-time concepts and semantics • Timing constraints • Support for simulated time • Support for performance tests and benchmarks • Reference test suite (voluntary, based on inputs from tool vendors) STF 380 Report at MTS#49

TTCN-3 v4.2.1 Interim version • Contains • (201 873-1) RES/MTS-00107-1: Core Language • Addressed mainly 3GPP/LTE CRs according to review meeting on June 3, 2009 • http://docbox.etsi.org/MTS/MTS/05-Meetings/200909-MTS49/49TD13r3_Final_Minutes_of_the_TTCN-3_CR_resolution_meeting.doc • 23 CRs implemented, 1 CR rejected • Distributed to MTS GEN for comments on August 17, 2009 STF 380 Report at MTS#49

TTCN-3 v4.2.1 • Will Contain • RES/MTS-00111-1 TTCN-3 Core Language • RES/MTS-00111-4 TTCN-3 Operational Semantics • RES/MTS-00111-5 TTCN-3 Runtime Interfaces • RES/MTS-00111-6 TTCN-3 Control Interfaces • RES/MTS-00111-7 TTCN-3 and the Use of ASN.1 • RES/MTS-00111-8 The IDL to TTCN-3 Mapping • RES/MTS-00111-9 Using XML schema with TTCN-3 • RES/MTS-00111-10 TTCN-3 Documentation Tags • DES/MTS-00112 TTCN-3: Static Test Configuration & Deployment • DES/MTS-00113 TTCN-3: Performance Testing Concepts • DES/MTS-00114 TTCN-3: Real-Time Concepts • DTR/MTS-00115 TTCN-3 Reference Test Suite • Will address 62 CRs • To be completed end of December 2009, to be reviewed and approved in January 2010 STF 380 Report at MTS#49

Status of v4.2.1 • majority of CRs discussed, resolutions in preparation • parser developed to check BNF correctness • real-time concepts discussed • resolutions not yet agreed • performance concepts to be discussed • proposal to merge real-time and performance concepts into one extension package  MTS decision needed • methodology for reference test suite development discussed • example ICS, TSS, and test cases under development STF 380 Report at MTS#49

  7. Status of Extension Packages • Behavior Types • Ready for approval • Configuration and Deployment Support • Needs adaptations in part 4 • Proposal to approve it together with v4.2.1 only  MTS decision needed STF 380 Report at MTS#49

TTCN-3 Maintenance in 2010 ?! • no STF proposed yet • however, implementation of new v4 concepts is ongoing – hence, new CRs expected • real-time and performance concepts in first version only – extensions could be needed • extension packages first published in v4 – extensions could be needed as well • TTCN-3 used in new domains: medical, automotive – additional CRs expected • an STF on TTCN-3 maintenance needed for stable and mature improvements of TTCN-3 • MTS decision needed STF 380 Report at MTS#49

  10. Handling of TTCN-3 Presentation Formats • Only the textual format (part 1) is continuously maintained, but not the tabular format (part 2) nor the graphical format (part 3) • For part 3, CRs exist • However, the STF ressources for the TTCN-3 maintenance do not allow a further update of these two parts • proposal to freeze part 2 and part 3 in their current status • MTS decision needed how to handle this STF 380 Report at MTS#49
