  5. Importance of Site • Pastures for sheep and horses • Military Training- army and private people • Near Tiber River- Source of Water • Became part of Rome later- Augustan Period

  6. Importance…cont • Became populated • Held “AraPacis”-peace by Augustus and Empire • Soon became filled with many buildings: • Baths • Temples: Apollo, Hercules, Hadrian, Matidia • For Religious cults that were not allowed past pomerium
