  3. MIXED FREIGHT TRAIN Carries a variety of freight Use all types of freight cars Different cars go to different places SO – the mixed freight goes through a classification yard to sort out cars

  4. INTERMODAL TRAIN Use flatcars – all-purpose, center beam bulkhead, bulkhead and depressed center Carries intermodal containers and piggyback trailers (variety of freight) Unloaded by intermodal cranes or large overhead container forklifts SO – very easy transfer to other carriers
