  3. Sitemap Manager

  4. Sitemap Manager Sitemap Manager is used to manage the organization of web pages on a Web Center website. Users may add new pages, delete existing pages, re-order pages within a section and create new sections. Users may also change the title of existing pages and sections. Step 1: Under the Work Area, choose Sitemap Manager. If another user is editing the sitemap, the files will be locked for changes but may be viewed until the lock is released.

  5. Main Options • Step 2: The Sitemap Manager will load in the condensed view. • Step 3: Click Display All Pages to ‘open’ the sitemap and view all pages. To condense this view, click Hide Sub Pages. Save Changes – saves changes to the Work Area site. An “Update was successful” message will be displayed. Cancel Edits – cancels any changes made since the Sitemap Manager was opened or changes were saved. Main Section Title Links – navigates to the index or main page of that section in the Work Area. Expand Section Link – Clicking “+” will expand that section. Clicking “-” will condense that section.

  6. Changing Section and Page Titles • To change the title of a page or section: • Step 1: Click the button next to the name to be edited • Step 2: Enter a new title and click Change Title • Note: The title of a primary navigation section can not be changed.

  7. Reordering Pages Pages and sections can be moved up or down in the sitemap. • To reorder pages: • Step 1: Click the or next to the corresponding page or section to move up or down. • Step 2: Continue to move the page up or down to the desired location. Note: A page can not be moved to a different section. If a page needs to be moved to a different section, create a new page in the new section and delete the old page. The arrow buttons will be grayed if the page can not be moved.

  8. Adding Section Pages Before adding new section pages, plan what pages will be fully-developed before going Live. This is important as all new pages created in the Sitemap Manager must be moved to Staging and sent live at the same time. Only create new pages that you are prepared to complete before the next site deployment. • To add a new page to a section: • Step 1: Click the button next to the section title. Enter a page name. The page name is the file name in the URL. • Page Name Notes: • Names may not contain special characters • Click ‘Show Current Page Names’ to see existing names • Use similar naming conventions as with existing names • Keep page names short and descriptive

  9. Adding Section Pages • Step 2: Enter a page title. Titles may contain spaces but may not contain commas or special characters. • Step 3: Click Add Page. The page will now be displayed under any existing pages in the section. It may be moved as needed.

  10. Deleting Pages To delete a page or section: Click the button and click OK on the confirmation alert box. • Note: Deleting a section will also delete all corresponding pages within the given section.

  11. Navigating to Pages • To save and navigate to new pages: • Step 1: After all edits have been made, click Save Changes • Step 2: Click a section or page link to open that page in Content Edit. • Note: If you forget to click Save Changes, the message seen below • will appear. Click Save to proceed, Continue to delete all changes since the last time saved, or Cancel to remain in the Sitemap Manager.

  12. Navigating to Pages New pages in a new section will display “Coming Soon!!”. They can then be updated using the Edit Content link. Sites with DHTML menu navigation are also automatically updated. Note: It is not recommended to send “Coming Soon” pages live until all new updates have been completed.

  13. Submit to Staging Follow the same process as with other edits to send to staging. If a file used in Sitemap Manager is selected, all corresponding Sitemap files will also be selected automatically. Changes to the Sitemap may not be removed in Manage Changes. Instead, changes will need to be edited using Sitemap Manager. Note: Keep new pages in the Work Area until all edits have been completed and the pages are ready for your live site.
